For any kind of eCommerce platform, the payment methods are extremely important as they give the flexibility of paying in a preferred way to all of the customers. That is why we have decided to dedicate a full section of this CS-Cart tutorial to how exactly to manage them by editing the currently existing ones, deleting the ones which are not suitable or necessary or adding new payment methods, according to your needs.
The first step towards dealing with these methods, is to login into your Administration Panel. When you have entered your Dashboard you need to go to Administration. There, a drop-down menu will appear and you should then select the Payment methods option:
Once you are in the Payment methods page, you can see all the added by default ones. If you have a fresh installation, you will find that the first three methods – Credit card, Phone ordering, Check – are with an Active status. Further down the list, you will observe that there are a number of different methods, including a variety of different checks:
You can manage the statuses of each payment method by clicking on the right corner of the row, where it is located and change it to Active, if you want it to be available for your customers of the Disabled, if you don’t want them to use it:
If you have the need for an additional payment method, such as PayPal, you can always add a new one by clicking on the Add payment method button at the top right corner of the page:
Afterward, you are going to be required to fill in the Name of the payment method. Then, you can fill in all the additional data this method requires, like Payment category or Description and click on Create the the bottom right corner after you are done:
There are three main payment methods, which enjoy the most popularity:
Credit card – one of the traditional and most popular methods, where the payment takes place when a bank transfer is verified.
Cash on delivery – a payment is received on hand by the delivery person and then transferred to you by the delivery company. This is an appropriate method for a local sales.
Online services for payments, such as PayPal – payment goes through a special service, where both the client and you have accounts and that is why the transfer of the money is simultaneous.
There are also two other options that are going to be useful and you can access both of them by hovering over the right corner of the payment method you want to deal with and you will see that a gear button will appear. When you press it, a drop-down menu will show you these two options:
Delete – automatically deletes the selected payment method
Edit – gives you the ability to make changes to the details
When you click on Edit, you will see the same kind of a window, which was present when adding a new payment method as well. You can amend all the settings there and after you are done with the editing process, simply click on Save to enact the changes:
