How to Manage Groups in phpBB

Firstly, from the left menu you should select the "Manage groups" link. From this panel a new group of users can be created, and the existing pre-defined groups, which come with the default phpBB3 installation, can be modified as well.

It is quite useful and easy to use the pre-defined groups, e.g. just add the user to the Global moderators group if you wish to allow him/her to moderate your forum. A new group can be created and then its privileges can be set from this panel. Firstly, you should enter the name of the group and then click the button [Submit].

You can give special permissions to the group for a specific forum as soon as you create it. You can select the Groups' forum permissions from the left menu. Then, the newly created group should be selected and click Submit. Next, you should select for which forum you want to grant privileges and click on the button Submit next to it. In the menu "Setting Permissions" click on the link "Advanced permissions". There will be an intuitive table which allows you to grant custom privileges for your newly created group. Click on the button Apply permissions under the table if you have selected them.

How to Manage Users in phpBB

When you set the group, select the link Manage users from the left menu.

Next, enter the username in the search box and click the button Submit.

After that you will be a step forward to the Overview page in the user administration panel. In it, if you want to, you are able to change users' passwords, their e-mails or even to delete the user and his/her posts. For applying the changes, you should click on the button Submit next to each category of settings. Besides, from the drop-down menu additional options can be selected and you can set them for the selected user such as changing his/her Signature, Group, and Permissions etc.
